01Overview
AUREL designs private residences and boutique hospitality spaces. Their previous site buried a decade of photography behind slow galleries and a generic grid.
02Challenge
Showcase heavy, high-resolution photography without sacrificing speed — and give each project the narrative weight it has in a printed monograph.
03Approach
- Step 01
Treated each project as a chapter: context, material, light, detail.
- Step 02
Designed a type-led layout system with generous whitespace and a single serif accent.
- Step 03
Built a responsive image pipeline serving AVIF at exactly the size each device needs.
04Design
Warm stone neutrals, a bronze accent drawn from the studio's own material palette, and slow, deliberate scroll-linked transitions that echo walking through a space.

05Development
Static-first Next.js build with a custom image loader on Cloudflare. Images are blurred placeholders until in view, keeping the initial payload under 150 KB.
